These Terms & Conditions govern your use of TankBase, an iOS application developed by Fjellcore. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, creating an account for, or otherwise using TankBase (the "App"), you agree to these Terms & Conditions and the accompanying Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

TankBase helps aquarium hobbyists log water readings, track maintenance, manage livestock and equipment, track expenses, and receive reminders. It is a personal record-keeping tool, not a substitute for professional aquatic, veterinary, or scientific advice.

3. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create a TankBase account. When you register, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, contact us immediately at the email below.

4. Accuracy Disclaimer

Safe-range indicators, species-aware thresholds, and any other guidance shown in the App are general reference information only, not a guarantee of water safety or livestock health. They do not replace your own testing equipment, judgment, or professional advice from a qualified aquatic specialist or veterinarian.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation;

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App, except where permitted by law;

  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App's servers, backend, or other users' data;

  • Use the App to store or transmit content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful to others.

6. In-App Purchases

TankBase offers an optional one-time purchase ("Pro") that unlocks additional features. All purchases are processed and billed by Apple through the App Store, are tied to a single Apple ID, and are subject to Apple's own terms and refund policies — Fjellcore does not process payments directly and cannot issue refunds. Purchases are for digital features within the App and are not transferable outside your Apple ID.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, graphics, and branding, is owned by Fjellcore and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of the data you enter into the App (tank readings, notes, photos, etc.); we do not claim ownership of your content.

8. Third-Party Services

TankBase relies on third-party infrastructure to operate, including Supabase (authentication and data storage) and, for free-tier users, Google AdMob (advertising). Your use of the App is also subject to the applicable terms of these providers where relevant. See the Privacy Policy below for details on data shared with these services.

9. Disclaimer of Warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation, and we do not warrant that any defects will be corrected.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fjellcore shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of livestock — arising from or related to your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time as described in the Privacy Policy below.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date on this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer protection law requires otherwise.

PRIVACY POLICY

TankBase, a product of Fjellcore, is the data controller of your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have over it. Please read it before using the App.

1. Personal Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: your email address and password, processed via Supabase authentication.

  • Content you provide: tank profiles, water readings, maintenance and feeding logs, livestock and equipment records, expense entries, and any notes you write in the App.

  • Device and advertising data (free tier only): if you use the free, ad-supported tier, Google AdMob may collect device identifiers, approximate location, and usage data to serve and measure ads. This does not apply to Pro users, who see no ads.

  • Purchase information: if you buy Pro, Apple processes the transaction directly — we receive confirmation of purchase status but never see your payment details.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to: provide and sync the App's core features across your devices; send reminders and notifications you've opted into; maintain the security and integrity of your account; and, for free-tier users, serve advertising through AdMob. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your tank or livestock data for any purpose beyond operating the App for you.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Where applicable (for example, if you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom), we process your data on the following bases: performance of a contract (providing the App's features you've signed up for), consent (for optional reminders and advertising on the free tier), and legitimate interest (maintaining app security and reliability).

4. Where Your Data Is Stored

Your account and content data are stored via Supabase with row-level security enabled, meaning only your authenticated account can access your own records — not other users, and not Fjellcore staff outside of what's needed for support or legal compliance.

5. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing

We share limited data with the following third parties strictly to operate the App:

  • Supabase — hosts your account and app data.

  • Google AdMob — serves ads to free-tier users; governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

  • Apple — processes Pro purchases and App Store distribution.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to any third party for their own marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and content data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your data is removed from our active systems; residual copies may persist briefly in backups before being purged on our standard backup rotation schedule.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your data is processed;

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;

  • Correct inaccurate data;

  • Request deletion of your data;

  • Restrict or object to certain processing;

  • Request a portable copy of your data (available in-app via CSV export for Pro users, or by request);

  • Not be subject to automated decision-making that produces legal effects.

You can edit or delete most of your data directly in the App at any time. To exercise any of the rights above or request full account deletion, contact andrew@fjellcore.com.

8. Children's Privacy

TankBase is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including row-level security and Apple's Face ID / biometric app-lock — to protect your data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. If you are located outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in a country with different data protection laws than your own.

11. Legal Disclosure

We will disclose information we collect if required or permitted by law — for example, to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
